You have undoubtedly heard a lot about superfoods throughout your life. There are some foods that seem to rise above the rest as superior and therefore truly beneficial to your general health. There are so many wonderful foods out there, and yet some seem to rise to the top in terms of their nutrition content and make the so called Superfoods List.

But how can you be sure of which foods truly constitute as superfoods?

All fruits and vegetables are good for you, but there are some which tend to be a bit better. Though you need to eliminate certain types of fat in your diet there are some which can be really wonderful if you concentrate on the right type.

There are plenty of highly nutritious foods that are not part of our superfoods list but we just couldn’t include everything. We have included the most important ones and the ones that everybody can add to their daily diet.

Avocado

Yes it’s high in fat, but it’s the good type. You get a hearty dose of Omega 3 fatty acids with avocado, and so it’s the type of fat that works for you rather than against you. It is also full of Lutein which has been linked to better cognition according to research.

Berries

You’ve probably heard for years that blueberries are a true super food, but all berries have some important health properties.

Berries are loaded with antioxidants which can help to boost your immune system.

Eating berries can help to keep you healthy now and prevent disease in the future as well.

Broccoli

It’s that dark deep rich green colour that shows that broccoli is loaded with antioxidants.

It is also high in vitamins and minerals which means it is superior to other vegetables.

Cruciferous vegetables are high in fiber such as Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and cabbage but broccoli stands out even among them.

Salmon

It’s of course high in protein, but it’s also loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids.

The thing to remember is that fish is good for you but this fatty type of fish reigns supreme.

You will enjoy a delicious meal with salmon, and you will also be contributing to better heart health and possibly help along weight loss at the same time.

Kale

It may have been a garnishment in the past, but now this is a green that is here to stay and couldn’t be missing from a superfoods list.

You can lump this in with spinach as that dark leafy type of green that will contribute to better health in so many wonderful ways.

Eggs

Quinoa

Garlic and Onion
